Hermann Lamers Meyer
On Tour with The
Johnny Bush Road Show, LIVE at the "Houston Rodeo" at The Astrodome, Houston-Texas 2008
This is what the great Johnny Bush had so say about Hermann Lammers Meyer, when he wrote the liner notesor Hermann`s WALTZ OF THE WIND CD.
I first met Hermann Lammers Meyer about ten years ago. I was playing with my band, The Bandoleros,at a place called "The Market" in San Antonio.Tx. My steel guitar player at that time, Bob Kelly, introduced me to this young man from Germany (Hermann), who handed me his new "45" record, and on one side he had recorded one of my songs. I was flattered. He told me he was a big fan of mine and had come all the way to San Antonio to meet me, I played the record when I returned home, and I was impressed for two reasons, one of cource being that he had chosen my song to record: secondly, because he had a style that was different. He did not try to sound like the new country acts of today (and the only reason they have a rocord deal is because they sound like somebody else). It was refreshing to hear a new talent with a singing style of his own.
A few years later Hermann came to Spicewood,Texas to record an album at Willie Nelson`s Studio. At Hermann`s request, the steel guitar great Jimmy Day asked me to be part of this album. I was honored, but a little relucant, as I hadn`t played drums on a record since I was a Cherokee Cowboy with Ray Price thirty years ago. Hermann also recorded a couple more of my songs on that session, and we became friends. Hermann is an extremely likeable young man with a great sence of humor, who posesses that rare ability to hear a hit song.
In 1997, Hermann invited me to come to Germany and play ten dates with hime and his band. Hermann and his wife Anke are most gracious hosts, and my wife and I had a wonderful time, seeing a great deal of Germany, playing wonderfull music and meeting a wide variety of friends, family, fans, and media. Hermann and I had a million laughs.
Hermann is a fine singer and songwriter, a great steel guitar player, and radio dj, who lives and breathes traditional country music. Thanks to artists like Hermann, our music will live on, and I predict that he will be known internationally. In Germany and Europe, of cource, he already is a star !

Media Info /CD Review: 1961-A Love Song- Hermann Lammers Meyer- Desert Kid (German)
Europe's most popular singer of Texas Dance Hall and Country Music, Germany's Hermann Lammers Meyer (HLM) has again journeyed to Nashville and had some wonderful musicians join him and his great voice in this brand new CD of 15 tunes plus one bonus track of a fantastic eclectic mix. It was produced by HLM, Juergen Koop and former Ray Price Cherokee Cowboy, Pete Wade, who is heard on electric guitars and Dobro.
In addition to Pete, HLM, a steel guitar player, chose possibly the world’s most famous name in the steel guitar world alive today, Buddy Emmons to play pedal steel on the album. In addition, the great Buddy Spicher is heard playing fiddles, viola and mandolin, David Smith- bass, Gene Chrisman-drums, Rodger Morris-piano, Jimmy Capps and Zille- guitars and Rolf Sieker-banjo. Becky Hobbs plays piano and joins Hermann vocally on Hermann’s Nashville Cats Boogie. Another steel guitar favorite, Jim Loessberg plays drums on Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens’ Just Between the Two of Us. The angelic voiced Laney Hicks joins HLM on this one and also on Willie Nelson’s Mr. Record Man. The backup voices joining Hermann on the album are The Callaways (Lois Johnson and Sudie Baker), Lillie Mae Rische, David Spicher, and HLM himself, who is also heard on guitar. Lois Johnson is also heard joining Hermann for a duet on HLM’s own album title tune 1961- A Love Song. A country music legend, Dusty Owens, duets with Hermann on the Conway Twitty memory 15 Years Ago.
Another country favorite is the Ned Miller composition and hit Do What you Do Do Well. Bonnie and Delaney gave us Never Ending Song of Love, The Kinks did Days and What Goes on is from the Beatles. HLM brings all of these back and also does the awesome Texas dance hall sound of Fastest Growing Heartache in the West from Ringo Starr. A couple others with that super Texas dance hall sound, both written by Hermann are Alley of Shame and Neon Leon. The beautifully voiced Annie B joins HLM for another of Hermann’s originals, a waltz, So What Am I Doin’. Another HLM original is The Radio Song, a very interesting sound. The remaining tunes are Run to the Door and the bonus track, Hermann’s penned instrumental, Emslaendler.
The price is 17,50 Euro in Europe, including postage and $20 US in the US
and worldwide. (sending without jewel case.) . It can be ordered from Desert Kid Records, Drosselweg 15, 26871 Aschendorf, Germany or on line at: www.hermannlammersmeyer.com
