Gary Cooper's Influence on Ernie Oldfield
Even those tough years back then provided me with moments I dearly remember: it was in Vienna. We would go to the cinema on Saturday afternoons to watch westerns. Unconsciously we would copy Gary Cooper, John Wayne & co, who represented law and order for us kids. It started as soon as we stepped outside the cinema, walking home bow-legged and with our shoulders drooping in a similarly cool fashion. Today there are other idols. I did not develop a sense of real justice until much later.
